We are excited to announce that the 7th Annual Georgia State University Conflict Resolution Symposium will take place on October 20th, 2017. This year’s theme will be: A Seat at the Table: Building Community, Engaging Diverse Voices.
At a time when society remains divided and polarized in many ways, we want to highlight efforts to build community, bridge divides, and engage in constructive dialogue. Crucial to these efforts is ensuring that people whose voices have been marginalized or dismissed are always invited to have a seat at the table. The Symposium will include opportunities for education, community-building, and dialogue, and will feature speakers, panels and trainers at the forefront of the fields of conflict resolution, diversity and inclusion and community building. It will also include a peacemaking tournament, a keynote address, and ample time for making connections. More information about speakers, workshops and registration is forthcoming, but in the meantime, please mark October 20th on your calendars! We look forward to seeing you there.
The program will focus on ways to nurture a professional community of people interested in the intersection of conflict resolution, and community building. Our goal is to provide education to current and prospective community mediators, clinicians, educators and related practitioners. Historically, the Georgia State University Annual Conflict Resolution Symposium (hosted by the Office of the Ombudsperson) has created a space of coming together in honor of Conflict Resolution Day. We are excited that the 7th Annual Symposium will provide another opportunity for mentoring and networking among college and university students, staff, and faculty, as well as new and seasoned practitioners.
We expect that the day will spark ideas and suggestions for engaging in ways that facilitate positive change for Georgia State University members and the broader Atlanta community.
